If you can make it through the hot subway stations, New York City is the place to be during the Summer. There are vibes and an atmosphere during the months of the summer that are unmatchable. They say that New Yorkers work hard during the Winter, and play hard in Summer, and that is an absolute fact. At the same time, New York City has countless festivals, events, and parties that no other city can compare too. Although it may be quite hot sometimes, New Yorkers are ready to party come Summer time. There will be a lot going on, so we want to break down some of the go-to events that you are not going to want to miss come Summer 2022. 

Gay Pride Week

The 2021 Gay Pride Week was absolutly epic. Countless people stormed the streets to celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community and the progress that has been made in recent decades. This year, the annual NYC Pride March will commence on June 26th at 12:00 PM EST. There will be several other events to celebrate Pride throughout the week including the Hester Street Fair on June 25 at Pier 17. You can donate and show support to the LGBTGIA+ community through the NYC Pride website. Don’t miss one of the biggest celebrations of the year at 2022 Gay Pride Week!

Bryant Park Film Festival 

The Bryant Park Film Festival lets you enjoy classic movies while hanging outside in the Summer air. The screenings happen every Monday throughout the Summer and they are absolutely free. Bring some blankets, chairs, snacks, and get ready to enjoy some great films right in the heart of Manhattan. The start times for each Monday vary, depending on sunset, and it is recommended to come and set up early to get a prime viewing location. The National Puerto Rican Day Parade

The 65th Annual Puerto Rican Day Parade will commence on Sunday, June 12th on Fifth Avenue to celebrate the pride and culture of the Puerto Rican community. This is one of New York City’s best parades with usually around 80,000 people marching. The theme of this year’s parade will be Un Pueblo, Muchas Voces (One Nation, Many Voices) and thousands will be the rich history of the National Puerto Rican Day Parade. Smorgasburg Food Market

Anybody who lives for good food is not going to want to miss the Smorgasburg Food Market in NYC this summer. They have various locations throughout the city including Williamsburg, Prospect Park, and WTC. Each week, thousands of people gather to enjoy the best local food at this outdoor market. Some of the New York vendors include Ornella’s Trattoria, Rosie’s Empanadas, Smashed NYC, Oyster Part, and more! The New York Times referred to the Smogasburg Food Market as “The Woodstock of Eating” further proving its credibility as one of the best food markets around. 

Fourth of July Celebration

Everyone knows that when it comes to celebrating Independence Day, New York City is the place to be. At the NYC Fourth of July Celebration, there will be an epic fireworks display consisting of 40,000 fireworks that can be seen throughout the city. The fireworks can be seen at all five boroughs, but there are several great spots to give you the best views including the Empire State Building, One World Observatory, or on one of NYC’s dinner cruises. This year, millions will be watching the beautiful fireworks display while celebrating their independence in NYC. 

Shakespeare in the Park 

Shakespeare in the Park is an annual tradition featuring outdoor productions of your favorite plays at the Delecorte Theater in Central Park. This is a great opportunity to further your knowledge of theater while supporting the performing arts. The New York institution will be celebrating their 60th year anniversary making it a can't-miss event.
