The Rink at Rockefeller Center Opens for the Season

For some, nothing rings in the holiday season quite like the image of magical ice skating in New York City. And November 5th, The Rink at Rockefeller Center officially opens for all the picturesque skating you crave! It's a perfect fall and winter activity you can enjoy with the whole family all season long.

History of The Rink at Rockefeller Center

There is a legend that says the idea for The Rink was inspired by a skate salesman who tried demonstrating his skates on a frozen area of pavement from the Rockefeller Center Fountain. In 1936 and on Christmas Day, The Rink officially opened to the public. And it’s been an iconic centerpiece of NYC charm and history ever since.

The Rink is centrally located at Rockefeller Plaza, right between 50th and 49th Streets. General Admission tickets are $11-$73, and Memberships are available for those who plan to skate all season long.

Here are details regarding FAQs:

Can tickets be refunded? No.

How do I enter The Rink? Your online ticket purchase will provide you with access to the rink. Children under six will have to be accompanied by an adult.

Is there parking? Use the Rockefeller Center parking garage on the North side of 48th Street.

What about inclement weather? The Rink is an outdoor venue, so dress warmly. In the rare event The Rink closes due to weather, you will receive an email, and a refund will be automatically issued.
