See Manhattanhenge July 11th & 12th

June 28, 2023 Jessica Stewart

In the UK, you have Stonehenge with brilliant solstice sunsets that attract thousands of tourists every year. In New York City, there’s Manhattanhenge, a similarly brilliant sunset phenomenon that lights up the sky between Manhattan’s unique skyline. It, too, attracts tourists and locals alike. Bring your camera and find your best spot this July to witness Manhattanhenge for yourself!

When to Plan for Manhattanhenge

Every year, there are four days of Manhattanhenge. If you missed these brilliant sunsets in May, you have two more chances to experience this stunning phenomenon in July.

On day one, you can expect to see the full sun. On day two, you’ll witness Manhattanhenge with a half sun. Times may become adjusted according to the Manhattan Solstice.

  • July 11, 2023: 8:20 pm (full sun)
  • July 12, 2023: 8:21 pm (half sun)

Where to View Manhattanhenge

Find a great spot, preferably on an East-West street with an unobstructed view. Here are the streets that tend to draw the most crowds and feature the most impressive views.

  • 14th Street
  • 23rd Street
  • 35th Street
  • 42nd Street
  • 57th Street
