The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City has chosen Kosovo-born artist Petrit Halilaj to showcase his exquisite sculptural installation for this year’s Rooftop Garden Commission. The commission series highlights three artists who show their work in one of the most prestigious and visible stages in NYC. Petrit Halilaj is one of those three artists, and he will be creating a site-specific showcase to fill The Met’s Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Roof Garden at the Met. Visitors to The Met’s rooftop will enjoy this year’s art installation, sweeping views of NYC, and cocktails at the rooftop’s garden bar.
Petrit Halilaj Transforms The Met’s Rooftop Garden
For Petrit Halilaj’s first major project in the United States, he’ll be creating a project that’s connected to the recent history of his native country, Kosovo and the cultural and political tensions in the region. His projects include a variety of disciplines such as drawing, poetry, and performance. For this project Halilaj transforms the roof with a sprawling sculptural installation.
