If you’re looking for something fun, artistic, and inspirational to do in New York City right now, there are two exhibits you need to add to your to-do list. Ending soon, you should see “Alex Katz: Gathering” at the Guggenheim and “Meret Oppenheim: My Exhibition” at the Museum of Modern Art. Here’s more about both exhibitions, including what types of art you can expect to discover, so you can start to make plans to see them before they close! They’re NYC events that will delight all ages and are worth discovering while they're available.

‘Alex Katz: Gathering’ at The Guggenheim

Now through February 20th, at the iconic Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, is Alex Katz’s example of architecture and art exhibit called “Gathering.” This achievement continues to thrive and delight visitors with its 154 pieces of art. There are 75 large canvases and roughly 79 various tiny collages, prints, drawings, and oil studies. There are even painted aluminum figurative cutouts that have been carefully installed to tell a story. It’s a retrospective that is a must-see.

Visit the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum at 1071 Fifth Avenue, Manhattan, or online for additional information: https://www.guggenheim.org/

‘Meret Oppenheim: My Exhibition’ at the Museum of Modern Art

Another exhibit you need to see, now through March 4th, is the “Meret Oppenheim: My Exhibition.” One of the unique delights of this show is the “Object” or the “Fur-Lined Teacup,” which is a small sculpture dating back to 1936 that often gets overlooked in Oppenheim’s long list of distinguished accomplishments. This exhibit is extensive, offering unique paintings, both in abstract and not. There are also drawings, objects, and collages, too.

Visit the Museum of Modern Art at 11 West 53rd Street, New York City, or online for more information: https://www.moma.org/
