SantaCon Is Coming!

November 1, 2022 Desiree Homer

If you enjoy a tasty pint or two with friends, you’ll want to make plans for December 10th. It’s the annual SantaCon bar crawl in New York City! And participants from all over come, usually dressed up as their favorite holiday characters, to experience some of NYC’s best bars.

The Official SantaCon NYC Deets

Usually occurring on the second Saturday of every December, SantaCon falls on December 10th this year. Check out the SantaCon website for more information, but social media is the best way to plan your route and find participating bars and restaurants. You can stay in the loop with announcements, new bar and nightclub stops added to the route, and fun festivities to expect along the way.

Things to Consider

Before you gather the troops, design your costumes, and head out, there are a few rules to consider. Only those elves and Santa impersonators over the age of 21 can participate in this epic annual event. And there may be some bars along your route where costumes are prohibited. So don’t be a “Bad Santa” and stick to the participating venues along the SantaCon bar crawl route.

Join the Jolly Good Time

Last year’s jolly good time had gingerbread men, Santas, and reindeer stopping at 46 different New York City locations and hot spots along the bar crawl route. Mostly traversing across midtown and leading down into the East Village, this year’s holiday shuffle is still updating pit stops.

Last year’s participating venues included:

  • Local West
  • The Liberty
  • Lucy’s Royal Cantina
  • Mustang Harry’s
  • Doc Holiday’s
  • The Ainsworth

RSVP on the SantaCon Facebook page. You can also explore the various charitable organizations associated with the organizer. Most venues will be free to enter without a cover charge to participants. However, there will be “special venues” that enforce a $13 donation. Those are tax-deductible donations, and special venues will have additional entertainment and perks to offer those attending.
