Smorgasburg is Dubbed ‘The Woodstock of Eating’
Smorgasburg is officially the largest outdoor food market in America, and although it has multiple locations and pop-ups all over the world, it started right here in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. It welcomes over two million people annually to the markets across New York, Los Angeles, and Miami alone.
As a spinoff of Brooklyn Flea, Smorgasburg opened in the spring of 2011. Past expansions have included markets in Jersey City, Washington D.C., Toronto, and Kingston, NY. Additionally, there have been pop-ups all over the country in places like Osaka, Japan, Sao Paulo, Brazil, and more! This year’s NYC locations will include the original Williamsburg location, plus The Oculus at the World Trade Center in downtown Manhattan and Prospect Park in Brooklyn.
Smorgasburg has been a place for independent food and drink vendors to thrive and grow their businesses. Some have been Smorgasburg vendors for years, while others have gone on to successful brick-and-mortar establishments or produced their own packaged goods for the masses. Local New Yorkers and Smorgasburg vendors come together and personally connect over a love for food and drinks.
Smorgasburg Takes Over Weekends in NYC Starting in April!
Opening weekend for the Smorgasburg Food Market is on April 5th to 7th, 2024. It continues every weekend all the way through until October, so there’s plenty of time to check out any (or all) of their three locations!
