About Earth Day
Earth Day officially takes place on Thursday, April 22nd. And this year’s Earth Day theme is “Invest in Our Planet.” It’s a date that is celebrated across more than 190 countries and is the most widely celebrated and nonreligious holiday in history.
Earth Day was first celebrated back on April 22nd, 1970, and continues to be commemorated on the same day every year. Intended to raise awareness for planetary preservation and showcase threats facing the environment, Earth Day continues to be a movement.
This year, look for global initiatives that include parties, parades, rallies, workshops, and cleanup efforts. And there is no shortage of things to do right here in New York City to elevate Earth Day awareness, too.
