It’s almost February and Black History Month. Rooted in historical relevance and representative of the birthdays of two prominent figures in Black History, Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglas, it’s a month-long commemoration that also brings with it celebrations and tributes to Black Culture. If you’re in New York City, there are a host of things going on and events to celebrate! 

The Theme for This Year’s Black History Month

For 2023, Black History Month’s theme is “Black Resistance.” This theme intends to explore how African Americans have resisted both historic and present-day oppression. You can learn more about Black History Month, including its origins and facts, here
