The Dominican Day Parade will be coming back on August 14th

July 29, 2022 Erica Maurer

The Dominican Day Parade will be coming back on August 14th, the 2nd Sunday in August. This annual tradition has been around since 1982 and it is an epic celebration of the Dominican people and their rich culture. Community leaders in New York City created the Dominican Day Parade to showcase their culture and celebrate their history.

The second Sunday of August represents La Guerra De la Restauracion, otherwise known as the Restauration War. It is a significant moment in the history of the Dominican people. It represents them gaining their independence from Spain for the second time.

The Parade will start on the Avenue of the Americas and 38th Street and continue to 52nd street.

The parade will be taking place between noon and 4:00 PM  and it is expected to bring in over 10,000 participants.

The Dominican Day Parade is a nonprofit organization that gives back to its community thanks to sponsors and support.

There will be dancing, marchers, entertainment, and more as thousands recognize the many contributions made by Dominican culture.

Also remember to get your tickets to the 2022 Benefit Gala on Friday, August 12  at the Surf Club On The Sound in New Rochelle, NY. The event will take place between 6:00 PM and 1:00 AM and it will include a Pre-Reception, dinner, entertainment and more. It will be a night of celebration and honoring everything that the Dominican people have achieved

The Dominican Day Parade is always looking for donations and sponsors to keep this tradition going. Their goal is to keep their community strong and vibrant, and through the help of others, this organization has done amazing things for the Dominican communities in New York City.
