The popular 20at20 Off-Broadway promotion is back this spring for their semi-annual New York City event! This fantastic deal is presented twice a year by The Off-Broadway Alliance (OBA) in an effort to promote and support Off-Broadway theater. Now, taking in a show is more affordable, making it more accessible to the general public. Get your $20 theater tickets from April 1st to April 24th, 2024, and enjoy the immersive experience live theater brings to each and every audience. You never know. Off-Broadway vs Broadway Show
The main distinction between Off-Broadway and Broadway shows is the size of the theater. Off-Broadway theaters have 100-499 seats, while Broadway shows have 500+ seating capacity. The specific location of the theaters is also a major difference. Broadway theaters are located inside the “Broadway Box” of Manhattan’s Theater District, while Off-Broadway theaters are located throughout the city but are mainly in the areas of Greenwich Village and the West Side. There are exceptions and overlaps, plus differences in production costs, but theater size and location are the main differentiators.
Everything else about the Off-Broadway productions themselves are just as delightful as the Broadway performances. A change in venue and a drop in price is the only real variable. And many well-known and successful Broadway productions started Off-Broadway including Hair, Little Shop of Horrors, Hamilton, Rent, Dear Evan Hansen, Hadestown, Grease, and A Chorus Line, just to name a few. You never know what gem you might find at an Off-Broadway production!
How 20at20 Works
Starting on April 1st and running until April 24th, participating off-broadway shows will offer $20 tickets 20 minutes prior to curtain. Head over to the theater’s box office and purchase your ticket *in cash* before the show starts, and you’re good to go. It’s that easy!
Make a note: Tickets are subject to availability, and this promotion cannot be used to purchase tickets ahead of time. Additionally, venues may charge a small facility fee that will not exceed $2.50.
