June is Pride Month, and that means New York City is ready to get in on all the action of this joyous celebration for the LGBTQ+ community! The city will be filled with a colorful display of events, parades, and festivities honoring the progress made for equality and acceptance. NYC is known as the birthplace of the modern LGBTQ+ rights movement and has become a beacon of inclusivity and diversity. Check out some of the events happening in June for Pride Month!
NYC Pride March
This is one of Pride’s main events with a theme of “Reflect. Empower. Unite.” The NYC Pride March is happening on June 30th at 11:00 am. The route starts at 25th Street and 5th Ave and ends in Chelsea at 16th Street and 7th Ave. Additionally, the march will be broadcast on ABC-7, ABC7NY.com and ABC News Live.
Pride in Times Square
Times Square is host to a slew of fantastic Pride events. This year’s schedule isn’t out yet, but last year’s Pride in Times Square included top stage and screen celebrities, talent from Broadway/Off-Broadway productions, local Times Square business promotions, Pride Piano Bar sessions, live DJ sets, the return of The Big Broadway Disco, and more! Join in on all the fun on June 28th and 29th.
NY Yankees Pride Nights
Head up to the Bronx to Yankee Stadium for three fun-filled Pride Nights. Cheer on the Yankees and support Heritage of Pride as part of the ticket sales to help keep NYC Pride events free and accessible for all. Every ticket includes a New York Yankees hat with the Yankees logo in the Progress Pride Flag colors and a $15 New York Yankees Food & Beverage Voucher.
PrideFest
The annual LGBTQIA+ Street Fair, PrideFest, is back this year in Greenwich Village with a slew of participating vendors, exhibitors, entertainers, food, and activities for a celebration worth attending. This free event is the perfect spot to catch a live performance, grab a delicious bite to eat, shop for local finds, and get some great Pride gear! Don’t miss PrideFest happening on June 30th at 11:00 am.
Big Summer Pride Twirl at Brooklyn Bridge Park
Who doesn’t love a great dance party? Check out the Big Summer Pride Twirl at the beautiful Brooklyn Bridge Park for an all-ages dance party celebrating Pride Month. This free event is happening on June 8th with Papi Juice & Friends, featuring DJ sets by NYC luminary Venus X dynamic duo Kia and a performance by Essa Noche. The doors open officially at 4:00 pm, and the festivities last until 9:00 pm at Pier 3 Plaza.
