New York Fashion Week kicks off September 7th, and there’s still plenty of time to grab your tickets to this spectacular event. Head on down to lower Manhattan to check out all the new and upcoming fashion trends from the world’s most notable designers.

Even though some specific events and runways are “invite only,” there will still be plenty of shows open to the public. A total of 71 designers will present their spring/summer 2024 collections on New York City’s historic runways. The enthusiasm around the city during NYFW is infectious. You won’t want to miss the excitement that top industry professionals, designers, influencers, celebrities, and your favorite brands bring to the Big Apple.

What is New York Fashion Week?

NYFW is a semi-annual event held in the spring and fall seasons in Manhattan. Designers from all over the world present collections to buyers, members of the media, and a general audience. When it started in 1943, during WWII, the intention was to showcase and bring attention to American designers. Its popularity has grown so much over the years that NYFW is one of the most widely known events in New York City and brings in over 200,000 people annually.

The Designers

NYFW brings in the best of the best when it comes to fashion designers. You’ll see fan favorites on the schedule, but keep in mind everyone was new to the industry at some point. Just because some of the bigger shows are not open to the public doesn’t mean you can’t see some fantastic up-and-coming designers.

Some renowned designers making their return are Altuzarra, Anna Sui, Area, Brandon Maxwell, Carolina Herrera, Christian Siriano, Collina Strada, COS, Dion Lee, Eckhaus Latta, Elena Velez, Gabriela Hearst, Jason Wu, Khaite, LaQuan Smith, Michael Kors, Palomo Spain, Prabal Gurung, Proenza Schouler, Sergio Hudson, Theory, Tibi, Tory Burch, Ulla Joshnson and Willy Chavarria.

The biggest buzz of the season is the return of Ralph Lauren to NYFW. He hasn’t shown a collection at this event since 2019, so his comeback is generating a lot of anticipation.

The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) puts together its best lineup every season for this memorable week. Whether you’re event planning, visiting the city, or watching from home, it’s a celebration of fashion, and you’ll want to see what it’s all about.
