The summer season is officially upon us, and it’s the ideal time to experience New York City’s iconic waterfront while kayaking the East River. Take in the stunning views of the towering skyline of Manhattan on one side and the historic charm of Brooklyn on the other. Kayak the river’s gentle waves, soak up some sun and enjoy a serene and refreshing experience brought to the public by the Brooklyn Bridge Park Boathouse.
Free Kayaking for the Whole Family!
NYC is full of fun and exciting summer events. Take advantage of this free experience that’s perfect for the whole family.
The Brooklyn Bridge Park Boathouse offers free kayaking to the general public every Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday from now through August; Saturdays continue through September. They provide the boats, paddles, and life vests, and you don’t need any prior kayaking experience. They have a safety boater on the water if anyone in your party needs assistance (they’ll be in a red vest.)
