Don't Miss Shakespeare In The Park This Summer In NYC

July 20, 2022 Jonny Hoffman

Shakespeare in the Park is a free event celebrating the world of theater and culture. It is an annual Summer tradition that features productions of classic Shakespeare plays and has featured several prominent actors including Meryl Streep, Al Pacion, Denzel Washington, and more.

The event is produced by Public Theater and takes place at Central Park’s Delacorte Theater. It is a beautiful and rare occasion to watch good theater outdoors, making this a very unique event. While the event is focused around the works of William Shakespeare, it also features other dramatic and musical productions from other playwrights.

The Delacorte Theater was built in 1962 by founder Joseph Papp. His goal was to make theater accessible to the masses, and hundreds of free productions have been carried out there since. Its pristine location in the heart of Central Park creates an unmatchable theater experience.

Shakespeare in the Park began on June 21 and will be running through September 11 of this year. While the tickets are free to attendees, the only way to get them is to show up in person on the day of the event or take your chances with the digital lottery.

Now, more than ever, it is crucial to support the performing arts as well New York City events. At the same time, this is a chance to be outside while taking in the NYC theater and the brilliant works of William Shakespeare.

The easiest way to get to the Delacorte Theater is by entering via 81st Street and Central Park West. Anyone looking for fun events to attend this Summer can’t overlook this annual tradition.

On August 10, the production of As You Like It will be premiering. This acclaimed musical will be directed by Laurie Woolery and the music and lyrics from Shaina Taub as well as the original choreography by Sonya Tayeh.

All ticket distribution information, including the digital lottery with TodayTix can be seen at Feel free to make a donation through the website so we can keep this annual tradition going for years to come.
