It’s no secret that New York City isn’t exactly known for its sprawling farmland or access to wide open spaces. However, did you know there’s a 47-acre farm nestled right in the heart of Queens? The Queens County Farm Museum is one of the longest continually farmed sites in New York State and it’s a popular fall attraction for New Yorkers. Every year they have a pumpkin patch, an autumn-inspired donut shop, hayrides, farm animals, and the Amazing Maize Maze. Westchester County and Long Island offer fantastic fall activities, but if you want to stay a little closer to home and still get in the spirit of the season, don’t miss a visit to the Queens County Farm Museum!

All About the Amazing Maize Maze

One of the most popular seasonal activities in the fall is navigating your way through a challenging and carefully designed corn maze. With its towering stalks and tricky turns, it’s a pastime that’s perfect for the whole family.

Every year at the Queens County Farm Museum, the maze changes shape. This year it’s shaped like a monarch butterfly, paying homage and bringing attention to a species whose population has drastically decreased over the past couple of decades.

At the start of your maze journey, a staff member will have a “Stalk Talk” with all the guests to explain how to navigate your way through the maze to reach the Victory Bridge. The maze is approximately three acres and will take about 20-30 minutes to complete.
