May 29, 2023 Desiree Homer

Were you aware that International Yoga Day is coming? Yep. June 21st is the official “World Yoga Day,” and as New York City does with most commemorative holidays, there are plenty of yoga activities to enjoy!

There will be all kinds of relaxing activities featuring yoga, including in Central Park, in Bryant Park, and even in Times Square!

Celebrate International Day of Yoga in NYC

This year’s International Day of Yoga initiative seeks to connect the original sentiments of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” with the global community. And Solstice in Times Square: Mind Over Madness Yoga is back for the 21st annual event!

Novice yogis and experienced practitioners alike are invited to come to any of seven free yoga classes all along the pedestrian plazas on Wednesday, June 21st.

Register online and contact astarling@tsq.org about sponsorship opportunities for International Yoga Day. You can also donate to Community First, a support initiative intended to help vulnerable people in Times Square. All Solstice Yoga classes are free, but participants are encouraged to donate.

These fun and relaxing classes will bring peace and togetherness to Times Square. And all classes are also going to be streaming on Facebook and YouTube - TSQ.org/Solstice.

Share your unique yoga experience at Facebook.com/TimesSquareNYC and use hashtag #SolsticeTSq with mentions for @TimesSquareNYC. Learn more online here.

Other Ways to Celebrate International Yoga Day 2023

  • Commit to one hour without any technology to practice mindfulness.
  • Write a gratitude journal or list.
  • Practice Ahimsa.
  • Find space at home to follow along with live-streaming yoga classes.
